My character diary

Dear Diary,

I am absolutely excited that I have finally got the new carpet for the floor, it was getting pretty packed with all the toes hanging around. My two best friends came rushing to my place, desperate to talk. I knew that look when I saw it, so I quickly opened the door only to find them wasting their breath talking about some punishment being given. They said something about a person called Prometheus. When they had finally finished, my mouth stood ajar. I had no idea what was going on.

It was utterly weird of them to just come in and tell me such nonsense. It jumbled around my head, until it all hit me, Prometheus was the man who gave us fire! Because he didn’t teach anyone how to  make the fire in the first place, not to mention all the wood in the town. I was going back to sleep, when they grabbed me against my will and took me to the place where he was punished and was eaten by seagulls. I was shocked at what I was seeing, I hadn’t came for his punishment and must have missed it at home. Prometheus may have been buried, the un finished livers of the decent Titan.

It was completely devastated at the fact that the God Zeus, would commit such a treacherous crimes to fellow people of the city. This was officially the worst day of my life.

New Zealand Earthquake

The earthquake happened because the continental plate and the oceanic plate collided, making the oceanic plate go beneath, when it snapped, that caused the earthquake. This also caused the tsunami, which had an effect on New Zealand.

This devastating Earthquake happened just recently, it was a strong _92420890_7608eab3-619b-42c5-a08b-102a66e21cf0magnitude of 7.5. The tragedy may have been a whopping size in magnitude, it actually didn’t kill a lot of people (only 2 people died).

The effects of this earthquake were that New Zealand’s citizens had to move quickly to other places because their homes weren’t fit for anyone to live in.

This monster went all over New Zealand and shook many houses. Many streets were practically split in half due to the chaos this terror of an earthquake brought to this harmless town. It just got worst every 5 minutes. It was only early on Monday when this happened. Even a Tsunami  came into view that was 15 meters deep and 100 meters back from the coast. It is strange that only 2 people died. This is because New Zealand is a very rich country, so they had enough to build earthquake proof buildings.

It may have been a 7.5, but scientists who studied this, pushed it up to a 7.8. This is a picture from the Earthquake, food smashed on the floor, cartons leak as they get stomped on by panicked citizens.

Many of these earthquakes are normally just short and they would go away, but this one kept on going on and on. It was getting worse every minute or so.

This devastating earthquake only killed 2 people, but it had a giant effect on the whole of New Zealand. It will stay as the most tragic thing that has ever happened in the whole of the country’s history.

The Many Faces of JJ Rawlings – My Hero

In June 1979, Ghana was at a cross road, another military group was attacked. A young Air force pilot who a few weeks ago, awaiting assassination, was rescued by his colleagues and was going to help the people to June 4th revolution. He would be part of the group who would revolutionize Ghana. His name, was Jerry John Rawlings.

He gave this quote while awaiting assassination:

“I am not an expert in economics, and I am not an expert in law. But I am an expert in working on an empty stomach while wondering when and where the next meal will come from. I know what it feels like to go to bed with a headache, for want of food in the stomach”

He was born on the 22nd of June, 1947 in Accra Ghana. In March 1968, he started his training for the Flying school. Because of his skills, he won the Speed Bird trophy, and then became part of the Air force in April 1978. The early years of Ghana’s independence were full of joy because of the first President in Ghana Kwame Nkrumah. He was set to catapult the country to glory. But he wasn’t being supported any more, and he said that Ghana would only be a one party state. Kwame Nkrumah went to Vietnam and China, 1966, he was overthrown from his job because of him being disliked everywhere.

Jerry J. Rawlings, military and political leader in Ghana who twice (1979, 1981) overthrew the government and seized power. His second period of rule (1981–2001) afforded Ghana political stability and competent economic management.

From that day onward, he became a hero for doing the right thing. Later, he and his men formed a group called the A.F.R.C (Armed Forces Revolutionary Council). Rawlings and his Armed Forces Revolutionary Council ruled for 112 days, during which time the former heads of state, Gen. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong and Lieut. Gen. Frederick W.K. Akuffo, were tried and executed. Rawlings then yielded power to a freely elected civilian president, Hilla Limann, who promptly retired Rawlings from the air force.

The quality he possesses makes him a hero

My First Trip To Nigeria

On my first trip to Nigeria, I, my mum and my sister were going for the summer holidays. It was quite fun because there were a lot of things that I and my sister didn’t know about before we came. First we had to pack up our things before we left. It was quite exciting and boring having to pack up and yet still having some time to wait before we even set off to the airport. We set off full of energy, ready to go on the plane and finally go for the first time.

Security was the longest thing we had to do when we got there. At first all of us had to put our belongings in a large crate, then it went through a scanner to check for anything not allowed. After that we still had to wait for them to see if some things were allowed with on the plane. Soon after that, we were allowed to go to the waiting area to find the number of the boarding gate.

Waiting for take off! We were given the gate number. Dashing to the gate, we all couldn’t wait to finally get on the plane, each of us were itching to see how the inside looked like. The plane was so long and very lavish beyond belief. There were mini TVs for everyone, from the front to the back. The wait to go off was also long. It wasn’t until 10 minutes when we got on that we left.

Arrival was the moment we had all been waiting for, we had made it to Nigeria! It was the most exciting thing in all of our lives. We firstly had to unpack our things so we could sleep, when we did though, I didn’t feel any tiredness at all. I stayed awake for as long as my mum was asleep. Finally, we were going out. We went to a chicken farm where a lady gave me a chick to hold, thinking I would be scared of it. (Boy did I proved her wrong!) I ended up squeezing it so hard that it pooped and died! We spent up to 2 weeks there and then we came home for the rest of the summer.

The gluttonous one

The first one was born on the 1st of June 1965. He wasn’t favoured everywhere he went, he also wasn’t going to be given the family heritage even though he was the first born. The second born however, did get the favour that his older brother wanted. The dad was soon going to die, and the older brother didn’t want to be left with no money, so he hired some people to kidnap the younger one. The younger one didn’t know what happened when he was captured…

5 years earlier…

The mum was still alive when the 1st son was born, however, she didn’t even get to see the second born child. The father loved her so much that he cherished him (the second born) so he would remember her through him. This is what made the elder child angry…

Wondering through the jungle, the boy walked endlessly until he stumbled into a deep sleep. The kidnappers were practically dragging him through the forest. It was the same, until two voodoo men trapped them in a net and took them to their shrine. When they got there, the voodoo men were discussing what they were going to do with them. Later, music started playing, and the kidnappers were going to be sacrificed to their gods first. The elder one had made a run for it, not bothering to help.

The entertainment had came in between the ceremony. Dancers were put on to entertain then whilst they waited for the boy to be sacrificed. A girl, similar in age, saw him and then danced slower.

By the time that the dance was over, the people who were meant to be sacrificed had all gone in the space of 5 minutes. He was the only one left. His heart soon started to ache with fear, for he knew, that in a few seconds, he would become nothing but ashes…

It was time for his experience of being turned into the gods’ food. The celebration had started all over again, dancers were called out once again. This was his chance to escape! Quickly dashing out of the cage, he went deep into the forest, not caring about whether it was day or night.

It was a bad idea to go off in the night though, and the guards were in hot pursuit. Finally, he was ever so close to the road, the lights attracted him over to a certain fork. Since it was a voodoo jungle, he had to choose wisely. He was scared of making the wrong decision and stayed there, trying to make an educative guess.

The guards had arrived at the fork, spears in hands and swords at the ready. The boy had nowhere to run or hide to, he was doomed…

Afghanistan suffered an unbelievable 4.2m earthquake that killed thousands of people, left hundreds of homes destroyed and lots injured. “It is the worst thing that has ever happened in the whole of Afghanistan, we don’t have enough money to pay for the damage.”

This earthquake was a whopping 4.2 magnitude. It may have been small, but even the smallest of earthquakes can cause a lot of damage. The country was hit on October 17th in the morning. Mastuj, a place in Pakistan, was only 154km away, along with two other cities: Termez and Kundus.

This monster of an earthquake was mainly centered in the mountains, in the Hindu Kush region. 767km (45 miles) South of Faizband. The death rate was set to rise as the badly affected places in the country. It is very remote and all sources of communication had been cut off. A school in the country had almost all the girls in the school dead when they were trying to get out. The aftershocks went as far as India and Tajikistan.

The “Sweet” and “Sour” Twins

On the 25th of December, at precisely  12:00 in the morning, the cry of a baby (two babies to be exact) could be heard from a flat. Twins, both girls were given birth to in their very own house. The first one was a nice, pretty girl with long blonde hair, the other was a sharp, squished – faced like girl that didn’t look like anything would make her happy. They were two different girls who grew up to be different people. The sweet girl named Grace, grew up to be a person who everyone liked. The other girl named Penny,  grew up to be a person who was the opposite of her sister, in everything they did.

Grace became an actress, because she was likeable and knew how to express feelings. She made a lot of money and was rich. When she was about 26, she finally got married to someone of the same kind as her, his name was Humphrey. Humphrey was a man she met in one of her films in America. The couple went on to produce many other films together, such as: The adventurous four and the mystery of the seven rings of eternal heat, Heroes of Olympus: The thunder snatcher and many more.

Penny, on the other hand, was a librarian, and kept working there until she had enough money to move out of her mum and dad’s house and finally got her own house. She didn’t get married until later in her life, due to her appearance, so she got her house and stayed in there, just doing whatever she could to make a living. Her life was completely down the hill, until she was going to work one day. She bumped into a man. This person was a very well known man which had the most money in the whole neighbourhood! They came from the same personality, so they wouldn’t always get along, his name was Frank. It took quite a long time for them to actually get to know each other and finally, in a few years, got married to him. Because they were of the same kind, they would mostly talk about sad and miserable things going on in their lives.

On Christmas, they decided that they should go to see the movie: Heroes of Olympus, the thunder snatcher. They were just getting ready first. But they weren’t the only ones getting ready…

Penny and Frank set off to go to the movies and got there just in time too, because they had enough time to get snacks. As soon as they got inside, they were told to sit in the middle of the middle. Waiting for the film to start, two people came to sit next to them. Penny found it strange that someone would sit next to her, she was the most not liked girl in the whole neighbourhood. Only someone who didn’t care who she sat next to, someone who liked everyone…

The movie had started, a lot of chatter was coming from the person next to her, it wasn’t long until she knew it was her sister, after all, she did grow up to be known as Grace the chatter box. “Grace, is that you?” Grace turned her head, completely baffled about how a stranger knew her name. She was for about 5 minutes until she had no doubt it was Penny. They talked about all that had gone on in their lives and how they got to the cinema. Later they all decided to go to the restaurant and book a 4 seat table.

Whilst waiting for their food, they kept on talking and talking about how they came to the same cine and why they came also. Grace went on and on about how it was her birthday and why they came to the same cinema. Penny however, wasn’t. the food was served, they were still talking, but not as much as before. Since they were twins, Grace was kind enough to buy a birthday cake for them. Talking was non-stop on that table, everyone stayed rock solid even when the cake was finished. Finally the time had come for them to say goodbye, Grace and Humphrey went on to design many other films, and Penny and Frank also went o to find jobs and moved to America. Grace never heard of Penny again, Penny also never heard of Grace again, and it stayed like that for many years to come…

Worlds Apart – Part Two

She didn’t know what to do, where to go or how to get back. The girl only knew (or so she thought) that whatever happened, she would be OK, but she was wrong. Out of nowhere, the same person who she was asking the name of, had appeared. He was even taller than before, but looking younger and more polite than before. The man never spoke at all, and he definitely never smiled. It took a while to figure out she was tied up, it also took a while to realise that it wasn’t dark, for she was in shock.

Finally, she loosened herself ad headed for the door, but, to her surprise, the door was locked, and she couldn’t get out. She was trapped. Frantically smashing on the door, she heard footsteps coming her way. They were slow, so she smashed even faster until she was exhausted of all her energy. The footsteps were getting faster also, so she had no choice, and used the remaining of her strength and kicked the door down and ran off.

Running for dear life, the girl headed the right way back home. She thought she was safe, little did she know that she was being followed…

Back at the village, everyone had long forgotten the girl, most people had just moved on. It was only a year later, when they were woken up by a certain noise, that they remembered her. The same ogre like man came stomping so hard on the floor that tiles came up from the floor. This time they had had enough. Pitch forks in hands, they raced out of their houses, chased the man back into the forest. Soon after, rustling came yet again from the same forest. But instead of the same old, annoying, ugly to the core old man, came a nice girl. The same one that had been gone for almost 2 years now, had come back.

It had been a month since she had come back and as expected, every man still wanted her hand in   marriage. She just couldn’t take it anymore, and said that whoever wins the dance contest coming up, will not only get the prize money, but also will get her hand in marriage. The date was settled, and the dance was to be held on the next day. They all thought that it was going to go well, but she wasn’t the only one that had made a comeback. She was all by herself, waiting for the contest to finish, then she could finally meet her match. Everyone would think she would be OK, but they were wrong

The day of the contest was finally here and all the men (most of them at least) were practising for the big day. The same rustling in the bushes reminded none of them what was coming next, they were too caught up in what they were doing to realise it. The dance was down to its final minutes before it was announced who it was, but it was too late to warn anyone now. Out of nowhere, came the same, ugly to the core creature who had terrorized the place for years. The girl was on stage, ready to get married finally, the monster of a man wouldn’t have it. He snatched her out of human reach and traveled into the forest…
